Most companies know that employee-driven innovation is fundamental to growth and remaining competitive. Many fewer recognize that achieving innovative results requires an effective creative process and skills, as well as the right blend of problem-solving styles. Lack of any of these can cause teams to struggle along their path to the goal.
Some common challenges OD professionals encounter include leaders assuming they have identified the right problem to solve, process improvement efforts that fail to surface the issues truly driving the inefficiency, and lack of agreement on the issues being faced or the correct ways to solve them.

Ellen L. Moran, Ph.D., is a business psychologist, ICF certified executive coach, facilitator and speaker. She works with leaders and their teams, both nationally and internationally, to create collaborative conversations, cultures and work climates. In the last few years her focus has become helping teams collaborate to be more innovative. She integrates her training in Simplexity, the LEGO® Serious Play® Method and Conversational Intelligence® to facilitate creative conversations and outcomes with teams. Tim Basadur is a master trainer, facilitator and consultant with over 20 years’ experience delivering and leading applied creativity projects for corporate clients. He serves on the leadership team for Basadur Applied Creativity (www.basadur.com). BAC is a unique global company with more than 40 years of experience in helping individuals, teams, and organizations use applied creativity to solve problems and create growth opportunities. Tim is completing his DBA at DePaul University and was formerly assistant professor of management at Concordia University Chicago where he taught creativity and teamwork among other courses. His broad research interests include individual and organizational creativity, team decision making and motivated cognition.
